The Bounder’s Bounty Developer Diary 08/25/13
The Bounder’s Bounty Developer Diary
Well, hello there! Aubergine here, and as the good hobbits have had me quite busy in helping them set up their fundraising campaign, thought I’d take the time to share some of the details with you.
The Bounder’s Bounty will run until the release of Helm’s Deep. Unlike a more traditional festival, you participate by simply by logging in and playing LOTRO just as you normally do. You’ll just need to include some occasional trips to Michel Delving.
As you are out questing and defeating mobs, you will find that Bags of Bounder’s Tokens will drop periodically. You can also obtain Bags of Bounder’s Tokens from festival quests, Hobbit Presents and Locked Loot Boxes.
When you first open a Bag of Bounder’s Tokens, you will be directed to see Meg Proudfoot, the Bounder’s Token Collector, who’s standing by the statue in Michel Delving center. She’ll be collecting all of your donations of Bounder’s Tokens throughout the event. She accepts donations in stacks of 50 tokens at a time.
Near Meg are two Bounder vendors, the Bounder’s Token Rewards Vendor and the Bounder’s Bounty Vendor. The Bounder’s Token Rewards Vendor is your personal vendor. When you as an individual donate tokens, you will advance deeds which in turn unlock access to rewards.
The Bounder’s Bounty Vendor, on the other hand, is unlocked only when the server as a whole reaches the Bounder’s fund-raising goals. You can always check on your server’s progress by mousing over the statue. Current server collection numbers will be displayed there.
When this goal is completed, all persons on the server will gain the Bounder’s Boon! This buff will persist until the launch of Helm’s Deep.
Once the Bounder’s fundraising goals is met, the Bounder’s Bounty Vendor will unlock for all players on the server. This vendor includes a new premium War-steed and mount bundle. A Hobbit-themed Steed of Michel Delving! You’ll find other great items including a Tarnished Symbol of Celebrimbor Package, and other select store items. In addition, all items sold by the Bounder’s Token Rewards Vendor are also sold by the Bounder’s Bounty Vendor, but at discounted prices.
When the Bounder’s fundraising goals are completed in full, the Bounders will also take some of the proceeds to upgrade the statue in Michel Delving. This will stand for years to come as a commemoration of your accomplishment and as a testament to the Bounders’ resolve. The statue will be under construction for some amount of time in the future, but when it completes you’ll find that it will display in perpetuity all those who worked hardest at helping the Bounders with their endeavor.
The Bounders thank you for your aid! All of us hope that this provides you all with an additional fun goal to add to your normal play experience and brings servers together to unlock their Bounder’s Bounty vendor. Which server will be first?
LoTRO Update 11, 5/13/13
This update includes new epic story and five new areas to explore in the Wildermore region.
All word from Wildermore has ceased and rumors point to the worst. You must find and aid the town of Scylfig, which suffers from a strangely deepening winter and an Uruk-hai threat.
Uruk-hai invaders have torched the region’s farms, slaying many and driving the survivors from their homes. You must ride into the smoldering remains to help drive out the evil tides of Núrzum’s raiders before meeting with the brooding Reeve of Wildermore.
As the brutal winter rages, many folk have gone missing, and the small village of Dunfast is in dire need of protection. You must follow in the wake of Núrzum’s destruction, but can you find him in time? Face marauding Warbands as you race to save the people of Dunfast.
The town of the High Knolls, Byre Tor, long held out against the powers of Núrzum, but now has fallen to the beastly enemy. Venture among forbidding crags in search of the city’s hunted refugees, but use caution, for whispers warn that the Knolls are thick with Saruman’s minions!
In the unruly, northern expanses of Fangorn Forest, the Darkness has taken hold. In the Balewood, violent Huorns and Wood-trolls prowl and Saruman’s Uruk-hai linger. You must gather young Ents to rally against the growing corruption.
The Wildermore Quest pack is free to VIPs. See below for official screenshots released for these regions.
It also includes mounted combat revamp with new class specific traits, housing changes, the addition of Hobbit presents and what is described as “New VIP Benefits”.

Update 10 Release Notes
Lord of the Rings Online Producer Letter
January has been an exciting month for us on the dev team! We’ve wrapped up our plans for 2013, and I’m very pleased to announce some new big initiatives for LOTRO you can expect in the coming year:
Player’s Council – We are doubling down this year on the conversation between Turbine and you, our players. We are going to start a Player’s Council, a group of players who participate in more regular & structured feedback sessions with the dev group. We want to make sure that as we grow and extend this game, that we are incorporating your likes and dislikes about what we are into what we release. The Community Team will be releasing more information about how we’re going to construct and run the Player’s Council in the coming weeks.
Western Rohan – I am at this moment standing on the parapet of the Hornburg, looking out over Helm’s Deep as devs populate the landscape with hundreds (soon to be thousands) of Saruman’s Uruk-hai & Orcs. We will be bringing you the rest of Rohan in two installments – Wildermore, a northern region between the Wold and Fangorn, will be released this spring, after our 6th anniversary, and later in the year, you’ll be able to see Western Rohan, Edoras, and participate in battles of epic proportions. Much more on this to come…
Housing – I am extremely pleased to say that this year we will be tackling a major revision to the Housing system. In February and March we will be gathering information about how Housing should change, and then we’ll be releasing revisions to the system in the latter half of the year. We look forward to leveraging our new Player’s Council to help shape and guide the extension of this feature!
Class Adjustments – Later in the year, we will be making some significant changes to the skills and traits of the Free Peoples classes. We’ll be pruning out skills that just feel disappointing in play and increasing the potency of others. The end result will be fewer skills, but a more profound impact on moment-to-moment play. How you choose to specialize your class will make a real difference!
There are plenty of other things happening this year, and we’ll be doing more dev chats via Twitter to keep getting the word out, so stay tuned for more details and more news in the coming weeks.
There's a very good guide on the Lord of the Rings Online forums, located here that will help answer all your questions!
You need to login twice
This is unfortunate. Vexing, even. It's the number one request that users have for eqdkp+. According to the devs, it is "non-trivial" to implement. Thus, this feature will come in eqdkp+ 0.7. Which has been in development for nigh on 3 years and is slated to be released Soon(tm).
For now, you can tell the forum to remember you (set a cookie), so you don't have to login all the time. If you are on a machine that is not shared with others, of course.
I wish I had better news. Be assured that I am looking forward to single sign-on, which will require a stable 0.7 of the main site code, as much as anyone else.
